Meet the committee - behind the team

You may have seen our cute little profiles on our social media, but here’s a little bit more of a deep dive!

Manager
First up is our brand new manager for the season, Abbie and we couldn’t be more excited to see what she’ll bring to the team as the “big boss”. She is one of the most experienced and dedicated players on the team, willing to give it her all and bash her way through whoever stands in her way. She was recently recognised as Coaches’ player and Clubman for the last season, so let’s just say the team is in safe hands!

Assistant Manager
This season's Assistant Manager is Ann-Marie. She’s taken a step back from being co-manager last season and will, instead, focus on helping Abbie and the rest of the committee in their roles. This decision didn’t come easily, but as she’s going into her final and most stressful year of her PhD, she thought it was a no-brainer. Although with her still being on hand to help, hopefully her attention to detail and love of lists will see things running smoothly.

Captain
The lovely Daisy will be returning to her role of Captain, but this time taking it on solo! Daisy leads by example with her enthusiasm and determination. Great at spotting space on the pitch to put herself or other players through and having the knowledge of the game, she is an integral player to have on the pitch. If you need someone to lift the team out of a tricky situation, you can bet on Daisy being the one to do it.

Vice-Captain
Manon is the Vice-Captain every team needs. Her rallying cries of “come on, RI!” can be heard for miles and she out-passions even the most enthusiastic teammate! I may or may not be exaggerating the volume of her shouts but that will be for you to decide... Manon is also one of the funniest players and she’s featured on more than a few of our Instagram posts. If you need someone to make you laugh or remind you of how incredible you are, Manon is a safe pick.

Fixtures Sec
We have the amazing Erin as Fixtures Sec this season. Erin is an integral member of the team and a huge part of RI. We have loved getting to know her both on and off the pitch and to see her coming out of her shell has been wonderful. And she’s a great reminder that RI is more than just a team that plays on a Sunday. Unfortunately, Erin’s season was cut short last year due to a bad injury, but she’s still there shouting encouragement from the sidelines. Fixtures is never an easy job, but we know Erin will make sure everyone is supposed to be where they need to be.

Treasurer
As a new player last season and immediately part of the committee, Ronni is our new team treasurer (or the self-appointed team treasure) and is also responsible for sponsorship. As it was put on Instagram, she is “our money bags extraordinaire.” She’s always willing to give it a go and faces everything with positivity and kindness. It’ll be exciting to see Ronni continue to grow both on and off the pitch and as part of the committee.

Social sec
One of the most important roles is Social Sec. They’re responsible for bringing the good vibes and helping us all have fun! This year, Pip is taking on the role and have already arranged some great socials (keep your eyes peeled for RI out in the wild). On the pitch, Pip is a firecracker, always charging up and putting in big hits; off the pitch, they are a dedicated cosplayer and D&D wiz! So we are positive there are going to be some fun and interesting socials this season.

Social Media
Helen (aka our Canva specialist) is responsible for all of our lovely social media posts. Bursting with new ideas and dynamic social media posts, we hope Helen and our content will bring as much joy to you as it does to us. While she no longer plays with us on a Sunday, Helen has remained a key member of the team both at training and on the sidelines cheering us on with her husband Matt, who also seems to be the unofficial official team photographer. We can’t imagine RI without her!

Coaches
Our lovely returning coaches this year are Phil and Ruth. Their job is to ensure we have the skills and confidence to play our best on a Sunday. We can always rely on them to make training fun and approachable. So, no matter what playing experience you have, you will be able to take part. Coaches are the backbone of every team, and without the support and encouragement of these two, games would probably be a chaotic mess.

Well-being sub committee

This season we have introduced the Well-being sub committee, which consists of Ann-Marie, Manon, Erin, and Helen. Their role is to help players feel supported no matter what they’re going through, both on and off the pitch. We want to be there for all of our players because rugby and RI are about more than just matchdays; we are a community.

And that’s everyone! We are all buzzing with excitement for the upcoming season and can't wait to see where this year takes us all.

All that’s left for you to do is join us on this thrilling journey!
